An event dedicated to the exchange of knowledge and practices in the field of public oversight of auditing was held in Belgrade from 1–2 October 2025. This initiative is part of the World Bank’s “Road to Europe” – Reform of Accounting and Institutional Strengthening Program for Small and Medium Enterprises (REPARIS for SMEs). The objective of the event was to share Serbia’s experience with colleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to support them in establishing a unified audit oversight system, in line with the recommendations of the European Commission.
As one of the key institutions responsible for the public oversight system in Serbia, the Securities Commission played a prominent role. The President of the Commission, Marko Janković, together with representatives of the Quality Assurance Department, presented the complete oversight model. The presentations covered key topics: from the legal and institutional framework, through the practical implementation of quality control, to the procedures for conducting cases and imposing measures on audit firms, sole practitioners, and licensed certified auditors.
The active participation of the Commission reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing transparency and integrity in financial reporting across the region. Through the exchange of knowledge and experience, the Commission directly contributes to the objectives of the REPARIS for SMEs program, which aims to align the corporate financial reporting framework of the Western Balkans with relevant European Union directives and regulations. By sh
aring its expertise with colleagues from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Commission supports a key reform step – the establishment of a unified audit oversight body in accordance with EU requirements. Such cooperation is essential for building trust in financial reporting and strengthening the economic environment in the Western Balkans.
